Hong Kong is marking this Christmas and New Year in a subdued mood following last month’s Tai Po fire, which has claimed 161 lives so far.
Many large-scale events have been postponed or scaled down, prompting residents and tourists to find quieter ways to celebrate amid a sombre atmosphere.
The Post lists the major citywide celebrations that are still happening.
Christmas Town
A dazzling Christmas Town at Statue Square Gardens in Central is running from November 14 to January 4, featuring a majestic 20-metre (66-foot) tree, twinkling lights and toy-themed decorations.
A highlight is the first-ever light show projected onto the facade of eight landmark buildings. It features three-dimensional festive animations set to music and takes place every 30 minutes between 7.30pm and 10.30pm.
Visitors can also stop by the atrium of the nearby Landmark Hong Kong to take photos of an 11-metre-tall castle installation.
Ticket holders can enter the castle to cast a coin into the lake that lights up with each wish or try the eight-metre Starlight Slide.
