Girl, 8, dies after collapsing at home on Hong Kong’s Lantau Island

An eight-year-old girl has died after collapsing at her home on Hong Kong’s Lantau Island.

Emergency personnel arrived at the house in Lo Uk Tsuen Village, Pui O, and found the child unconscious after police received a report from her mother at 8.27am on Wednesday.

Paramedics took her to the Mui Wo Clinic for resuscitation before she was airlifted to Pamela Youde Nethersole Eastern Hospital in Chai Wan.

She was pronounced dead at 10.23am after medical staff were unable to revive her.

The child’s cause of death has yet to be determined.

Police are still investigating the incident and have referred the case to the coroner. No arrests have been made.
