Hongkongers to change trains at Hung Hom for 2-day Tuen Ma line works in 2026
MTR Corp says disruptions on February 1 and March 8 will add about four to five minutes to journeys and will not affect train frequencies

Passengers travelling on the Tuen Ma line on February 1 and March 8 next year will need to change trains at Hung Hom station due to rail track works, which are expected to add about four to five minutes to their journeys, according to Hong Kong’s rail giant.
“[The arrangement] will only affect passengers passing through Hung Hom, which will extend their journeys by four to five minutes,” said David Chan Chi-hung, head of line group management for the company’s Tuen Ma line, light rail and buses.
The arrangement is being implemented to make way for the remaining rail track works between Hung Hom and East Tsim Sha Tsui stations, which involve adjusting the track alignment, slope, signalling system and overhead cable facilities.
Train rides would be smoother upon the works’ completion, Chan said, but stopped short of indicating whether journeys would be faster.
The temporary changes will affect passengers travelling on the Tuen Ma line, which connects Wu Kai Sha in Ma On Shan with Tuen Mun.
Trains departing from Wu Kai Sha for Tuen Mun will terminate at Hung Hom station before returning to Wu Kai Sha. Trains departing from Tuen Mun to Wu Kai Sha will also terminate at Hung Hom station and head back to Tuen Mun.
