A Chinese woman took her pet alpaca to a grooming salon which left it damp and exposed to cold temperatures overnight, leading it to die from hypothermia.

On November 8, the woman surnamed Li from Jinan, Shandong province in northern China, sparked outrage online when she told of its treatment.

Li, who runs a pet amusement shop, said she had sent three alpacas for bathing on October 30. The next day, she discovered that one of them, nicknamed Maodou, was suffering from hypothermia.

Pet amusement stores typically feature a variety of small animals, which are popular among children and offer them a chance to interact closely with animals.
