China woman aims to look her best as bridesmaid resorts to extreme diet, suffers prediabetes

A young Chinese woman who was determined to look her best as a bridesmaid at her best friend’s wedding lost 15kg in just two months through extreme dieting.

The crash diet eventually led her to develop prediabetes, sparking shock online.

The 26-year-old known by the pseudonym Xiaoyu is an office worker based in Hangzhou, Zhejiang province, southeastern China. She is 160cm tall and once weighed around 65kg.

After being invited by her best friend to be a bridesmaid, she became determined to be slimmer for the ceremony.

She carefully devised a “devil weight-loss plan” which involved almost completely cutting out staple foods and eating only small portions of vegetables and chicken breast each day.
