Ukraine hits Moscow oil refinery in major drone attack on Russian capital
Hundreds of drones target Russia in an attack Ukraine’s Zelensky called a ‘fully justified response’ in the war

Ukraine hit a major Moscow oil refinery for a second time in a week and disrupted commercial flights at Moscow airports in one of its biggest drone attacks since Russia’s all-out invasion of its neighbour more than four years ago, Russian officials said on Thursday.
Ukraine has repeatedly targeted Russian oil facilities, aiming to cut Moscow’s revenue for the war and make Russians feel the consequences of the invasion. Some areas have reported fuel shortages.
The attack came hours after Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said he had held “an important coordination call” with US President Donald Trump and French President Emmanuel Macron that might “bring about significant change”.
Zelensky called on European allies on Thursday to step up help for Kyiv to down Russian ballistic missiles and speed up purchases of US weaponry.
“We have the tools, and they are strong enough to put Russia on a path where diplomacy becomes the only choice,” Zelensky told Kyiv’s backers at a meeting in Nato’s Brussels headquarters.
“We all see that [Russian President Vladimir] Putin is now relying on one lasting thing: constant missile attacks, and he has ballistic missiles, so we need anti-ballistic capabilities.”
