In recent years, AI has rapidly evolved from emerging technology to global innovation engine, reshaping how people search, create, communicate, and work. This momentum is also apparent in the mobile ecosystem, where AI app downloads surpassed 346 million in Q4 2024, according to AppFigures, and Sensor Tower data show in-app purchase revenue reached US$2.3 billion in the first three quarters of 2025, providing clear evidence of surging consumer demand.

As AI capabilities advance, users increasingly seek smarter, more personalized, and seamless mobile experiences, expectations that are more achievable on mobile devices than ever. This shift presents OEMs with a distinct opportunity to differentiate themselves by integrating on-device AI and addressing previously unmet user needs. Against this backdrop, Xiaomi is leveraging its technological capabilities and expansive ecosystem to stay ahead in delivering advanced mobile experiences.

Xiaomi, one of the world's leading technology companies, has maintained its position among the top three global smartphone manufacturers for 20 consecutive quarters, according to Canalys, demonstrating robust strength across major markets worldwide. Its global internet user base reached 731.2 million monthly active users in the second quarter of 2025.

On November 17, Xiaomi's International Internet Business Department convened key partners from around the world in Thailand to share its vision for AI across the mobile ecosystem at the Xiaomi Internet Conference.

Over the past year, the team has made significant progress in on-device AI capabilities and AI-driven commercialisation. "We regard exceptional user experience as the core of our mission," said Qiang Song, General Manager of Xiaomi IIB. "In this fast-moving era of AI, we are also eager to grow together with our partners and seize every opportunity."

During the conference, four on-device AI features were introduced—AI Search, Creative Tools, Pet Companion, and Shopping Assistant—demonstrating AI embedded across the entire system to deliver a more intelligent experience at every user touchpoint.

For example, Pet Companion introduces an AI pet on the home screen that performs actions like eating, sleeping, and playing. It interacts with system apps for step counts, weather reminders, and other practical functions, while responding to users' voice commands in a natural and friendly way. Thanks to system-level integration, users can create a unique AI pet that delivers one-of-a-kind emotional value.

An on-device Shopping Assistant is also available, identifying product details, finding similar items and helping users claim coupons. All these features can be accessed with a single tap, while the system-level floating product page ensures instant, convenient shopping.

Beyond its AI advancements, Xiaomi has also strengthened its open and sustainable ecosystem for applications, games, content, and services, creating new possibilities for both users and partners.

GetApps, Xiaomi's overseas official app store, is available in over 100 markets, with a monthly active user base exceeding 260 million and more than 30 million daily new installations. The platform supports efficient app distribution through proprietary OEM tools such as Minicard and joint game operations, broadening developer opportunities while expanding user choice.

Minicard, an on-device capability, provides a flexible and seamless app distribution experience. Recent enhancements have focused on streamlining app publishing, optimizing launch flows, and delivering actionable insights, unlocking OEM potential to support app ecosystem growth and drive revenue for advertising platforms.

In gaming, Xiaomi's joint operations have attracted a large number of developers, with over 450 in-app purchase (IAP) titles launched in supported regions, achieving 90% annual revenue growth. The team leverages on-device resources for broader reach through placements such as full-screen, home page, and Games tab banners, while even extending reach beyond GetApps to other premium Xiaomi media.

System-level integrations, including GameTurbo with WILDBOOST OPTIMIZATION 3.0, MultiLink with Instant Install, and pre-registration features, enhance gameplay performance, accelerate downloads, and enable immediate access, supporting an optimized gaming experience. In addition, members-only coupons and discounts provide exclusive benefits for users.

Xiaomi has also developed an OEM native advertising framework that provides on-device placements and cross-device reach, enabling brands and partners to engage users through contextually integrated touchpoints. This efficient framework is underpinned by Xiaomi's expanding hardware ecosystem. Across smartphones, tablets, and connected TV devices, it delivers a smooth, connected experience through seamless hardware-software integration. Pre-installed apps, native icon placements, and on-device entry points make it easier for users to access the tools and services they need.

In addition, the Xiaomi ADS platform, an all-in-one advertising solution, provides tools to manage the advertising lifecycle and support partners in engaging users effectively. Its proprietary ROAS algorithm helps optimize campaign performance, driving sustainable growth across the ecosystem.

As AI continues to redefine the boundaries of technology and user experience,  Xiaomi is playing a pivotal role in this transformation, bridging hardware and software as well as intelligence and creativity. "Through continuous innovation and deep collaboration, we are building an open and sustainable ecosystem for all by empowering users and partners with our AI capabilities," said Qiang Song.
