China’s players again asserted their dominance in badminton as they overcame arch-rivals South Korea 3-1 to win their 14th BWF Sudirman Cup title in Xiamen on Sunday.

It was the fourth straight win for the Chinese and their second in a row over the Koreans, whom they also beat in the final two years ago in Suzhou.

Mixed doubles pair Huang Dongping and Feng Yanzhe outlasted Korean duo Chae Yu-jung and Seo Seung-jae 21-16, 17-21, 21-15 in an intense battle at Fenghuang Gymnasium.

Women’s singles world No 1 An Se-young gave the Koreans hope by dispatching Wang Zhiyi, ranked one place below, 21-17, 21-16, only for the in-form Shi Yuqi to restore the lead for the Chinese.
