Hong Kong women give retiring Chan perfect send-off with Kai Tak rout of Malaysia
Teenagers Lucia Ko and Anke Leung dazzle on the night 42-year-old Chan Wing-sze retires following a 22-year, 95-cap international career

As Chan Wing-sze bowed out of international football on an emotional night, two teenage stars pointed to a bright Hong Kong future in the city team’s 5-0 rout of Malaysia.
On her 18th birthday, Lucia Ko Pak-ling displayed remarkable composure and maturity as she orchestrated proceedings from midfield.
The 19-year-old striker Anke Leung Hong-kiu bagged a hat-trick, before Chan Yee-hing and Kwan Wing-yu gave the scoreline a slant that reflected a one-sided contest in front of a boisterous 1,332 crowd at Kai Tak Youth Sports Ground.
Hong Kong’s women last played at home when they beat Indonesia 4-1 at Football Club in July 2024.
“We want to play more home games, create more awareness around women’s football and grow from here,” Ricardo Rambo, the head coach, said. “The players treasure the fans’ support.”

Hong Kong beat the same opponents 3-2 behind closed doors on Wednesday, but a much changed team were rewarded for their aggressive start when Malaysia’s Henrietta Justine handled Leung’s cross.
