The Eastern head coach, Roberto Losada, said he would talk to his players to “figure out what is going on” after they feebly capitulated against Ratchaburi on Wednesday.

After a goalless opening 45 minutes, the Thai team struck seven times in the second half to emphatically confirm Eastern’s AFC Champions League 2 exit.

Since he was appointed in summer 2021, Losada has overcome the departures of a succession of key players to deliver two FA Cups, one Senior Shield and two top-three league finishes.

Visibly emotional following the Ratchaburi ordeal, Losada said: “I’m devastated, we built up something very beautiful over the past three years, and it’s gone. Just like that … it’s gone.”

Eastern have lost eight and won only two of 12 matches across all competitions this season, while they sit eighth in the league.

Losada said it would be “super difficult” to lift his players ahead of a visit to Football Club on Sunday. “I think I need to study psychology to see how I can do that,” he added.
