A senior Bayern Munich official believes their match against Aston Villa will be “the best” of the trio of games in Hong Kong this summer, and that the six-times European champions could “fill two stadiums” on a good day.

The August 7 clash between Bayern, who on Sunday won their 35th Bundesliga title, and Premier League Villa will be the third high-profile fixture in seven days at the 50,000-seat Kai Tak Stadium.

But Rouven Kasper, Bayern’s chief marketing officer, said he “does not worry at all” about his club’s outing coming after the 2026 Hong Kong Football Festival, which features Manchester City playing Inter Milan on August 1, and a meeting four days later between Chelsea and Juventus.

Speaking at the official launch of the Audi Football Summit on Tuesday, Kasper told the South China Morning Post: “Our match has the only team still in the Champions League [Bayern are in the semi-finals] and it will be the best match.

“If Hong Kong fans want to see premium football, they should participate in our match.”

Sources told the SCMP that there were common understandings among various parties and stakeholders that the three games had “quite different” target audiences, bearing in mind that Bayern estimate their mainland China fanbase numbers more than 143 million.
