Hong Kong golfer Sabrina Wong, 13, wins R&A under-16 amateur championship in England
The teen, now based in Scotland, breaks several records on her way to victory in a dramatic finish

Sabrina Wong of Hong Kong hailed the biggest win of her blossoming career after her groundbreaking triumph in the R&A Girls’ U16 Amateur Championship in England on Sunday.
Aged only 13, Wong not only became the youngest winner since the event’s inception in 2018 but carded a championship record-low total at Gog Magog Golf Club in Cambridge, as she prevailed by one shot from Ireland’s Hannah Lee-McNamara.
Wong also became the first player to win both the main title as well as the prize for the leading player under the age of 14.
“I like the sound of being the R&A girls’ under-16 champion,” Wong said. “This is my biggest win because it was such a strong field.”

The Scotland-based teen was the overnight leader but was tested in a dramatic finish when Lee-McNamara eagled the last hole, the par-five 18th, to complete a superb 65 – the lowest score of the day.
But Wong, who started playing golf when she was two, notched a birdie to secure the Angela Uzielli Trophy with a 70. Her 10-under-par 203 aggregate (67, 66 and 70) was the lowest 54-hole total in the championship’s history.
