International Series stop in Cambodia scrapped over Thai border conflict
The tournament at Chhun On Golf Club was originally sixth stop on Asian Tour’s series of 10 elevated events

Next month’s International Series event in Cambodia has been scrapped “in light of recent developments in the region”, the Asian Tour said on Tuesday.
Cambodia and Thailand have been locked in a conflict over their shared border, and while the two countries signed a ceasefire, significant tensions remain.
A large number of Thai golfers compete on the series, with Danthai Boonma fifth in the rankings. Those players had reportedly struggled to get visas for the event, which contributed to the decision.
The US$2 million tournament, which was scheduled for Chhun On Golf Club just outside Phnom Penh from October 9 to 12, was expected to be the sixth of 10 elevated events that make up the series, which features players from various tours around the world.
“We would like to express our sincere gratitude to the Royal Group, Chhun On Golf Club, and the people of Cambodia for their support throughout the planning of this event,” Rahul Singh, head of the International Series, said.
“Our thoughts are with those affected during this complex time and we remain confident that Cambodia will provide a wonderful stage for world-class golf in the future. We look forward to the opportunity to return when circumstances allow.”
