Hong Kong’s double Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games silver medallist Siobhan Haughey helped her Energy Standard team to a hard-earned victory in the International Swimming League 2021 season opener.

Haughey was first up on the final day of the four-team meet in Naples, Italy, where she was swimming in the 100m freestyle.

The 23-year-old led all the way and touched home in 51.22 seconds ahead of teammate Sarah Sjostrom.

It was Haughey’s first win of the meet after she finished third in the 50m freestyle and second in the 400m freestyle on day one at the Piscina Felice Scandone.

Her 50m time of 23.75 seconds was a new Asian short course record and an improvement on her own Hong Kong record.
