Hongkonger Ho targets podium finish on home soil at National Games
City’s top men’s epeeist last stood on the podium alongside his teammates at the Asian Championships in 2017

Hong Kong’s top men’s epeeist Cedric Ho Wai-hang said he wants to relive the podium moments on home soil at the coming National Games in November.
Ho last stood on the podium alongside his teammates when the hosts finished third in the men’s team épée event at the Asian Championships at AsiaWorld-Expo in 2017.
“It wasn’t the National Games, but my memories were quite deep,” he said. “It was my first regional podium as a team member, which was a very memorable achievement for me.”
Ho and his teammates had stood on the same podium step twice more – in Wuxi and Kuwait City, respectively – in 2023 and 2024, but it was “different” for him.
“With Hong Kong hosting the fencing events at Kai Tak Arena, I am looking forward to the Games,” he said. “I want the spectators to again create the same atmosphere and cheer for us like they did years ago.”

An Olympian who competed at the Grand Palais in Paris last summer, Ho said he wanted to see the podium occupied by three Hong Kong fencers.
