Rachel Shing finishes second in 10m air pistol final at World Championships in Cairo, China’s Yao Qianxun takes gold

Sharpshooter Rachel Shing Ho-ching made history in Cairo on Monday, becoming the first Hongkonger to win a medal at the ISSF World Championship.
Shing scored a total of 241.2 in the women’s 10m air pistol final to claim silver, just 1.8 points behind winner Yao Qianxun of China.
“It’s my first time making it to a World Championship final. Achieving a medal is already beyond my expectations,” the 31-year-old said.
The Hongkonger, who ranked first after four rounds in the final’s elimination phase, surrendered her lead to Yao in the penultimate round. On her second shot, Shing scored only 8.6 points, while Yao managed 10.6 with her attempt.
Yao, an eight-time World Cup medallist, said she felt “very happy and excited”.
“I hope I can continue to work hard and become even better in the future,” she added.
