How Abba are inspiring a Hongkonger’s final bid for Asian equestrian championships glory
Jacqueline Siu using group’s music to add to team dressage bronze in Sunday’s freestyle, says team thinking of all affected by Tai Po tragedy

Jacqueline Siu Wing-ying has choreographed an uplifting and emotional Abba-inspired routine for her final shot at 2025 FEI Asian Championships gold on Sunday.
Hongkonger Siu claimed dressage team bronze on Tuesday, then missed the podium by a tiny margin in Thursday’s individual competition.
The 43-year-old, an Asian Games gold medallist in 2018, was excited on the eve of her favourite freestyle event, but she said the thoughts of the Hong Kong squad in Thailand were with everybody affected by this week’s deadly fire in Tai Po.
“We’ve all been affected by seeing the tragic events in Hong Kong, and what’s happening there is more important than any competition,” Siu said.
“Missing a medal by 0.03 per cent, I couldn’t be disappointed. There is so much heartbreak and suffering happening, and it gives you a reality check.”
In freestyle dressage, rider and horse perform a self-devised routine to music. They are judged on their technical execution and artistic impression.
