More medals, records for Hong Kong on final day of Asian Under-20 Athletics Championships

City win one silver, one bronze and set two more Hong Kong records as China top medal table at end of four-day meet at Kai Tak Sports Park

China topped the medal table at the Asian Under-20 Athletics Championships in Hong Kong on Sunday, while the host city also enjoyed a record-breaking week at Kai Tak Youth Sports Ground.

The four-day meet was the first international athletics competition at Kai Tak Sports Park since its opening last year, with Hong Kong fielding 39 men and 30 women.

The city’s athletes broke seven under-20 records and one all-age Hong Kong record, and finished with two silver medals and one bronze.

The final day on Sunday was largely devoted to relays, and Hong Kong reached the finals in all four events: the men’s and women’s 4x100m and 4x400m relays.

The city added one silver and one bronze on the last day, while also setting two more Hong Kong records.

On Sunday morning, Chun Ho-miu broke his own under-20 record in the men’s discus throw with 47.16m, finishing 15th. Kazakhstan’s Maxim Sazhnev won gold with 60.45m.
