Floyd Mayweather Snr has said he “would beat the s*** out of Conor McGregor” in a video posted on YouTube on Sunday.
The interview follows a video of McGregor punching an elderly man in a Dublin pub in April 2019 that was published by US media outlet TMZ last week. That video has been viewed more than 9 million times in a week.
Mayweather is asked how he would react and the former boxer does not hold back.
The 66-year-old shows off his boxing skills to an impressed crowd before being asked: “Do you think you’d be able to take Conor?”


Mayweather responds, “I’d beat the s*** out of Conor. I would beat the s*** out of Conor right now.”
A TMZ reporter points out that 31-year-old McGregor is in “great shape” and “you’re double his age”.

“I’m double his age and I’d whoop his a**,” responds Mayweather.
While a bout between Mayweather Snr and “Mystic Mac” is unlikely, there is a rematch of sorts between Floyd Mayweather Jnr and the Irish MMA star.
The pair fought under boxing rules in 2017 with Mayweather Jnr, who retired from the ring undefeated, stopping McGregor in the 10th round.

Rumours of a rematch have circulated since, but reports in the British media suggest Mayweather Jnr and McGregor will finally come together in Tokyo on New Year’s Eve.
The Dubliner is reported to be on the verge of signing a US$12.3 million deal to star in a live action version of hit 1970s TV show Superstars alongside 41-year-old Mayweather.
It will also see them compete against Japanese MMA and kick-boxing star Tenshin Nasukawa and another Japanese kick-boxer.

A source told The Daily Star there is no issue with McGregor taking part, despite the MMA star being contracted to UFC.
“Conor is on the edge of signing. There is no direct combat involved so it doesn’t breach his UFC contract and he should be fine to take part.”
Mayweather took on Nasukawa in an exhibition fight in Tokyo last New Year’s Eve. The American was paid a reported US$9 million for the bout, in which he knocked out Nasukawa in just 139 seconds.


Many fight fans were left disappointed by the non-event, with some even claiming it was “rigged”.
Mayweather defended himself after the fight. “It was all about entertainment – we had a lot of fun,” Mayweather said. “They wanted this to happen in Japan, so I said ‘why not?’
That fight was promoted by Rizin and it is the same company behind the Superstars event.

The show, which ran in the UK and US, pitted elite sports stars together across a series of sporting events and endurance tests in a bid to find out the best overall athlete. The format has been revived several times in the decades since.
McGregor has been away from the Octagon since he fought Khabib Nurmagomedov at UFC 229 in Las Vegas last October. Last week in an interview with sports media outlet ESPN he hinted at several opponents he would like to fight on his return.
