UFC 249: Conor McGregor tells Justin Gaethje to forget Khabib – ‘the real threat is here’
- McGregor lashes out in Twitter rant as he looks to goad new interim champion into fighting him instead of Khabib Nurmagomedov
- ‘I’m going to butcher you … speak on my skills as a father? You’re dead,’ says the Irishman

We knew Conor McGregor wouldn’t stay quiet for long after Justin Gaethje shook up the lightweight division at UFC 249.
Gaethje snapped Tony Ferguson’s 12-fight win streak to claim the interim lightweight title and set-up a showdown with champion Khabib Nurmagomedov – a fight the Irishman has obviously been desperate for himself.
“It’s me and Justin next as Khabib is the biggest bottle fighter in the game,” McGregor wrote in a series of tweets on Monday night. “Guarantee it.”
For his part, Gaethje does not seem interested in fighting former featherweight and lightweight champion McGregor before he takes on “the biggest challenge in the world” against Nurmagomedov.
That seems to have riled McGregor, who apparently feels “The Highlight” is taking the easy option in fighting his Dominance MMA stablemate Nurmagomedov.
“Justin, there is no danger in a man that hugs legs, we all know. Try and dance around what the real threat is here all you want,” he wrote.
