Conor McGregor claimed this week he had the highest grossing UFC pay-per-view of 2020.
But Jorge Masvidal seems to have something to say about that.
Former two-weight champ McGregor (22-4) tweeted out an official document which appeared to show UFC 246 – headlined by the Irishman’s 40-second demolition of Donald Cerrone – pulled in more than 1.35 million buys in January.
“I am honoured to secure their highest PPV of the year,” the 32-year-old wrote.

“Highest PPV. Highest gate. Fastest Main Event KO of the year. 2020. 40 seconds. Roll on 2021!” McGregor added in another tweet.
“Gamebred” Masvidal’s manager Abe Kawa hit back on Twitter however, disputing McGregor’s claim. “So close! Good luck in January 2021!” he wrote, in a quote tweet of McGregor’s original post.

Masvidal (35-14) lost a unanimous decision to welterweight champ Kamaru Usman (17-1) at UFC 251 in July, but The Athletic later reported the pay-per-view drew 1.3 million buys.
Kawa, of First Round Management, was asked by fans to show a similar document proving the UFC 251 numbers where higher, but responded: “I don‘t think Jorge would like that. We don‘t dim another man’s light to make ourselves shine brighter. He knows as we do.”
Masvidal had called for a fight against “The Notorious” McGregor after beating Nate Diaz by TKO on a medical stoppage to win the “BMF” title in November 2019.
“Don‘t think it will happen,” Kawa responded on Tuesday to a fan asking if the matchup could still happen. “Conor is too small for Jorge. He is better suited at 155.”
