Aung La N Sang is targeting a return to ONE Championship around April and has warned middleweight champ Reinier De Ridder “I’m gonna get my belt back”.

“The Burmese Python” (26-11) is in Singapore this week to corner his countryman and Sanford MMA teammate Tial “The Dragon Leg” Thang (2-0) in his fight against Paul Lumihi (7-4). The bout will be recorded before Friday’s live ONE: Unbreakable event, and broadcast at a later date.

De Ridder (13-0) fulfilled his bold prediction of securing a shock first-round submission win by rear-naked choke at ONE: Inside The Matrix in October, but N Sang is determined to quickly recapture “champ-champ” status.

“No, I don’t wanna take any time off,” the ONE light heavyweight champ told SCMP MMA, laughing. “If they give me a fight on Friday I’ll do it too, whatever weight class.

But I think they’re shooting for sometime in the end of the [winter]. They did give me a tentative date, I don’t wanna say it yet. I have a couple of months, so I’m waiting on that date and hopefully I get a quick turnaround.”
