ONE Championship chairman and CEO Chatri Sityodtong thinks Demetrious Johnson is in for the “toughest fight of his career” against Adriano Moraes in Thursday morning’s ONE on TNT 1 main event.

After a high-profile switch to the Asian martial arts promotion in 2019, former UFC champion Johnson (30-3-1) produced three wins to earn the ONE flyweight grand prix title and a shot at divisional king Moraes.

“It’s a fight that people want to see, because if you look at DJ’s career, he steamrollered everyone in the UFC,” Chatri told SCMP MMA. “He didn’t have any hard fights.

“Then he comes to ONE Championship and he has the toughest fights of his career, where people are taking his back, giving him a black eye, people are banging him up.

“He’ll tell you, we had dinner here in Singapore for The Apprentice, and he said, ‘Chatri, the toughest athletes I’ve ever faced are here in ONE’.”
