Aung La N Sang insists he is ready to slide into next month’s ONE Championship middleweight title fight on short notice next month.

Champ Reinier de Ridder (14-0) is set to defend his belt against welterweight king Kiamrian Abbasov (23-4) in February 25’s ONE: Full Circle main event at Singapore Indoor Stadium, and a positive Covid-19 test or injury for either man could open up an opportunity for “The Burmese Python”.

The 36-year-old N Sang (27-12, 1 no contest) is booked for the same card in a long-awaited trilogy bout against Russia’s Vitaly Bigdash (11-2).

There’s also the possibility of a third big fight in the division taking place, if Leandro Ataides’ bout with Yushin Okami – which was scratched from January 14’s ONE: Heavy Hitters card – can be rescheduled quickly enough.

“Hopefully it’s on the 25th as well, so we get a good showing from the middleweights,” N Sang told the Post. “And if anything happens with Covid … anything can happen, so I’m not gonna put my heart into just Vitaly.
