Wang Chuqin and Sun Yingsha unite as mixed doubles wild card at WTT Finals in Hong Kong
Star duo had already qualified for the singles events and will be joined by Hong Kong’s Wong Chun-ting and Doo Hoi-kem

China table tennis stars Wang Chuqin and Sun Yingsha have been unveiled as the mixed doubles wild-card pairing for the WTT Finals in Hong Kong next month, organisers announced on Thursday.
Hong Kong’s Wong Chun-ting and Doo Hoi-kem will be the city’s only mixed doubles representatives, as one of the seven duos to have qualified through ranking points.
Wang and Sun, who had each already qualified for the singles events, needed the one wild-card place available because of a lack of competitive appearances together in mixed doubles during the season.
Both go into the WTT Finals after competing at the recent National Games, where Wang lost in the men’s singles semi-finals to Fan Zhendong and Sun lost in the women’s singles final to Wang Manyu.
Ranked world No 1 in men’s and women’s singles, Wang and Sun have a strong history of success since they started playing together in 2017.
They made their WTT mixed doubles debut at the 2022 Singapore Smash, are the reigning Olympic mixed doubles gold medallists and won the mixed doubles title at this year’s China Smash.
