Singapore’s Lim has fairy tale run at World Darts Championship ended by ruthless Humphries
Luke Humphries completes comfortable 3-0 win in second round at Alexandra Palace but admits to having mixed feelings over result

Luke Humphries said he had mixed feelings about his emphatic 3-0 win against Singapore’s Paul Lim in the second round of the PDC World Darts Championship.
The world No 3 was in ruthless form as he won the first eight legs of the match before Lim, at 71 the oldest player in the draw, found double top to avoid a complete shutout.
Humphries, the 2024 world champion, said he had great respect for Lim, who beat the Englishman in the World Championship in 2020 and was roared on by the capacity crowd throughout as he tried to build on his history-making first-round win against Sweden’s Jeffrey de Graaf at Alexandra Palace.
“Against someone you really like and you’re 6-0 up in legs, honestly it’s hard because you don’t want to destroy people all of the time,” Humphries said. “There are certain players that you want to, but certain players you don’t want to and he’s one that you don’t.
“It was a game I had to win, that was the most important thing and I put myself in a good position after the first two sets.
“He [Lim] is just a legend, I love him to bits and I hope that’s not the last time we see him on this stage.”
