Hong Kong’s Siobhan Haughey misses out on main final at China Open, Yu Zidi sets new milestone
China’s Tang Qianting continued her outstanding form to win the 100m breaststroke, while Pan Zhanle claimed bronze in the 100m freestyle

Hong Kong’s Siobhan Haughey missed out on the women’s 100m breaststroke A final at the China Open on Saturday, after finishing ninth overall in the event.
The Olympic medallist clocked 1:09.87 in the heats, which left her outside the top-eight spots for the main final.
Haughey competed in the B final, finishing in 1:08.12, a solid showing for a swimmer who normally focuses on freestyle.
Earlier in the China Open, Haughey won the 50m and 100m freestyle at the Longgang Universiade Centre Natatorium in Shenzhen.
In the women’s 400m individual medley final, 13-year-old Chinese swimming sensation Yu Zidi set a lifetime best of 4:33.33 to finish ahead of Ke Wenxi and Chang Mohan for an all-China podium.
China’s Tang Qianting continued her outstanding form to win the 100m breaststroke in 1:05.91, ahead of American Olympic champion Kate Douglass, who finished in 1:06.49, and South Africa’s Kaylene Corbett in 1:07.78.
