Hong Kong sweep men’s foil junior, cadet titles at world fencing championships in Brazil
Lam Ho-long becomes only second city athlete to win junior world crown, while Harris Ho clinches cadet title with a perfect record

Hong Kong’s athletes have achieved unprecedented success at the 2026 World Cadets and Juniors Fencing Championships, winning the junior and cadet men’s foil competitions in the same year for the first time.
Lam Ho-long and Harris Ho Shing-him triumphed on successive days in Rio de Janeiro, with Lam taking the foil title in commanding fashion with a 15-5 win over Egypt’s Abdelrahman Tolba.
The 19-year-old’s win makes him only the second Hong Kong athlete to win a junior world fencing crown, following double Olympic champion Cheung Ka-long’s triumph in 2017.
Ho, meanwhile, went through Monday’s event unbeaten before polishing off South Korea’s Choi Jian 15-10 to claim gold. In doing so, he became the city’s second cadet world champion after Cheng Tit-nam, who won in 2022.

Lam, who is the world No 3 junior, faced little pressure from Tolba, who ranks in the top 10 among senior fencers.
