Standard Chartered Taipei Charity Marathon hands out finishers’ medals with glaring typo
Runners who completed the race received medals with ‘marathon’ spelled as ‘marathan’, sparking derision online

Ahead of the Standard Chartered Hong Kong Marathon this weekend, attention turned to its sister event, the Standard Chartered Taipei Charity Marathon, after 26,000 finishers spotted a glaring typo on their medals on Sunday.
The coveted medals for finishers spelled “marathon” as “marathan”, sparking derision and discussions online.
“My first full marathon came with a limited-edition souvenir,” one runner quipped.
Others joked that the error meant that the medals were “turning into a collector’s item immediately”.
When asked by the Post about medal checks for this Sunday’s Hong Kong marathon, the race organiser offered a curt reply: “We do not comment on other races.”

The Chinese Taipei Road Running Association, the Taipei Charity Marathon organisers, announced on Monday they would reprint medals without errors and mail them free to all affected finishers.
