Coleman Wong’s coach issues scam warning after Wire app fraud targets star’s fans
Scammers create fake social media account claiming to be James Allemby, sell VIP packages for Ultimate Tennis Series event in Hong Kong

Coleman Wong Chak-lam’s coach has issued a warning to the star’s fans, after internet scammers created a fake social media account selling VIP packages for this month’s Ultimate Tennis Series event in Hong Kong.
James Allemby posted the warning on his Instagram page after discovering people pretending to be him on the Wire app were charging up to US$10,000 for holiday experiences, including stays at five-star hotels, dinner with Wong and access to private practice sessions ahead of the two-day exhibition event at Kai Tak Arena.
As well as Wong, star players Nick Kyrgios and Alex de Minaur will take part in the eight-man tournament, which features quicker matches and different scoring.
Canadian Allemby, whose Instagram account is under the name @hambittttt, said the Wire account @jamesallemby was a fake and apologised “to those already scammed”.
“Important for those going to UTS Hong Kong!” Allemby wrote in an Instagram story. “Someone has made a fake account on Wire using my name and is scamming people by selling fake tickets and packages. As well as meet and greets.

“This person is claiming I don’t run my own IG account and to not contact me or it seeing as he’s claiming it’s not really me … but it is. Apologies for those who were already scammed, but hopefully nobody else does.”
