The 2016 Summer Olympics, to be held in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, from August 5 to 21, 2016, will be the 31st Olympiad. It is the first time a South American city has hosted the world’s biggest multi-sport event. There will be 306 events in 28 sports. The opening and closing ceremonies will be held at the Maracana Stadium.
