The 2015 Rugby World Cup was the global tournament's eighth edition and was hosted by England from 18 September to 31 October. Some games took place in Wales but the final was held at London's famed Twickenham Stadium. Defending champions New Zealand, who won the 2011 tournament on home soil, became the first nation to retain the Webb Ellis Cup and the first to win it three times when they defeated Australia 34-17 in the title-deciding match.
