Japanese emperor’s brother Akishino formally becomes crown prince after pandemic delays

Prince Fumihito, or better known as Prince Akishino, was officially proclaimed first in line to the Chrysanthemum throne by his elder brother Emperor Naruhito on November 8, 2020. The ceremony was the latest in a series of royal events after Emperor Naruhito became monarch in 2019 following their father's abdication.
