Singaporean artisan family fights to preserve traditional craft of religious carving

Facing competition from mass-produced items and lacking heirs to take up the trade, the traditional manufacturing of religious craft is in danger of dying out in Singapore. The Say Tian Hng Buddha Shop, which is over a century old, is one of the last of its kind. Owner Ng Yeow Hua and his family are trying to save the heritage of the carving technique by reinventing the business, running workshops as well as educational programmes on Chinese culture.
