Typhoon Gaemi swept through Taiwan on July 24, 2024, the strongest typhoon to hit the island in eight years. The storm left two dead and 266 injured, and killed more than a dozen people in the Philippines, where heavy flooding displaced 600,000 residents. China’s eastern coastal provinces of Fujian and Zhejiang are now bracing for the typhoon, which is expected to make landfall on July 25.
