North Korea and Russia start building their first road connection

North Korea and Russia officially began constructing their first road bridge over the Tumen River on April 30, 2025. When complete, the span will open the first road connection linking the two countries. Leaders from both nations attended a virtual ceremony to mark the start of work on the project and hail its significance in strengthening diplomatic and economic ties. Officials say the bridge, expected to be finished by the summer of 2026, will enhance cross-border travel, tourism, and trade.
