Millions of people affected by deadly floods in Southeast Asia
Large parts of Thailand, Malaysia and Indonesia have been stricken by cyclone-fuelled torrential rain for a week.

Floodwater in southern Thailand, including Hat Yai, a major city submerged for five days, started to recede on November 27, 2025, after a week of severe flooding. Floods have damaged more than 980,000 homes and affected over 2.7 million people in Thailand, according to the interior ministry. In Malaysia, nearly 30,000 people in seven states have evacuated to temporary shelters in the country’s north. More than 1,000 rescuers had been deployed in Indonesia to search for people buried under landslides.
