Bangladeshi police started exhuming a mass grave on December 7, 2025, at a site believed to contain around 114 unidentified victims of crackdowns on a mass uprising that toppled former prime minister Sheikh Hasina in 2024. The United Nations says up to 1,400 people were killed in the crackdowns, forming the basis for the former prime minister’s conviction for crimes against humanity.
