Battery explosion suspected cause of Indonesian office building fire that killed 22

A battery explosion is suspected to have caused a fire that engulfed a seven-storey office building in Indonesia’s capital, Jakarta, on December 9, 2025, killing at least 22 people. The blaze reportedly broke out inside a testing area of a drone company on the first floor of the building and spread upwards. Several staff members of the drone company, including a pregnant woman, were killed.
