‘Help us’: evacuees pin hopes on US intervention to stop Cambodian-Thai clashes
US President Trump says he will hold talks with leaders on both sides and has expressed confidence about ending the latest clashes.
Cambodian evacuees in makeshift camps near the Thai border are appealing for help from US President Donald Trump, as heavy clashes between Thailand and Cambodia continued for a fifth day on December 11, 2025. Renewed fighting has displaced around 600,000 people and killed at least 20, according to local officials. Several evacuees expressed hopes that the US could broker another ceasefire, after a previous truce failed to hold.
