Pakistan’s oldest brewery regains export licence after nearly 50 years

The country’s oldest brewery, Murree, is shipping beer overseas, including to Japan and Britain, following the end of a long-standing export ban.

Pakistan’s Murree Brewery has resumed beer exports for the first time since a government ban halted overseas trade in 1977. The historic brewery has started shipments to several countries including Japan, Portugal and the United Kingdom. The company’s chief executive said it is a major expansion of their business that had long been limited under the country’s Islamic laws.
