Soaring diesel prices linked to the Middle East conflict are pushing vegetable farmers in the northern Philippine province of Benguet towards financial ruin. With fuel costs reportedly hitting 150 pesos (US$2.50) per litre, growers have been struggling to pay for irrigation and transport and often operate at a loss. Farmers in some remote areas even face inconsistent fuel supplies.
