Filipino cowgirls tackle stereotypes in Asia’s ‘wild east’

Young Filipino women compete each year at the Rodeo Masbateno in Masbate, an area known as cattle country in the Philippines. But despite having proven their skills in the arena from an early age, the rodeo has no professional category for more mature women. Young cowgirls must hang up their competitive careers after they graduate from university. Some say they keep riding in hopes they can one day find a place if a professional category for women is set up.
