Indonesian officials arrest sacked head of free meals programme over alleged corruption

Indonesian officials arrested the former head of the country’s free school meals programme on Wednesday. The scheme was the flagship policy of President Prabowo Subianto’s 2024 election campaign. Prabowo fired Dadan Hindayana, an entomologist who led the National Nutrition Agency since its inception in August 2024. He and two deputies were sacked on Tuesday before being taken into custody in Jakarta the following day.
