Indonesian students protest against government policies amid fuel price hike

Demonstrators call for lower fuel costs and an end to ‘wasteful’ government spending.

Hundreds of Indonesian students staged protests across the country on Monday, opposing government policies they warned could “bankrupt” the nation. The demonstrations followed a 32 per cent fuel price hike last week, driven by mounting fiscal pressure under Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto’s administration. Protesters also called for a review of state spending and measures to ease the rising cost of living.
