Tennis star Peng Shuai denies making sexual assault allegations against former government official

Chinese tennis star Peng Shuai has denied making sexual assault allegations against a former Chinese government official. Peng told a Singaporean newspaper on December 19, 2021, that she was fine and that her claims of sexual abuse had been a “misinterpretation” of a private matter. The contradiction between Peng’s current stance and the claims made more than a month ago in her now-deleted Weibo post has raised concerns that she was pressured into recanting her original assertion.
