Taiwan agrees to buy 1,000 killer drones from US one day after PLA blockade drills

Taiwan has signed contracts to buy 1,000 suicide drones from the United States. The announcement came a day after the People’s Liberation Army launched blockade drills around the self-ruled island on October 14, 2024. The two contracts include the acquisition of two types of drones. The Switchblade 300 and Altius 600M-V drones are expected to arrive in 2029 and 2027, respectively. The US approved the deals in June.
