Typhoon Maysak brings heavy rain, strong winds to southern China

Officials in the southern Guangxi region said floodwaters reached as high as 1.6 metres.

Typhoon Maysak made landfall in China’s southern Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region on Saturday, bringing heavy rain and strong winds and triggering flooding that prompted police to rescue stranded villagers. The storm earlier made landfall in neighbouring Hainan province, where flights and ferry services had to be suspended.
