Chinese disaster centre offers safety and protection training for typhoons and floods

At the Lvxing Disaster Simulation Training Centre in the eastern Chinese city of Hangzhou, participants experience what it is like to be caught up in a typhoon and learn how to protect themselves from disaster. More than 160,000 people have taken part in the training since the centre opened in May 2025. It is being offered as towns and cities across the world, including in China, battle extreme weather due to the twin effects of global warming and El Nino.
