Will China’s new AI model Kimi K3 create another DeepSeek moment?

Beijing-based AI company Moonshot AI has launched the world’s largest open-source artificial intelligence model, Kimi K3. The company claims the model outperforms leading US systems from Anthropic and OpenAI in some capabilities, but also acknowledges that Kimi K3 trails behind the US models in overall performance. Three days after Kimi K3 was launched, Moonshot temporarily suspended new subscriptions due to a surging demand and shortage of computing power.
